Located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a lovely quiet park in Northern Tanzania that is most famous for its elephant migration, birding, and quite an authentic safari atmosphere. The majority of travelers to the region either miss Tarangire altogether or venture into the park for a matter of hours leaving parts of Tarangire virtually untouched.

Day 3 – Tarangire National Park
Depart Arusha after breakfast and then drive to Tarangire National Park. Have a morning walking safari with an armed ranger, and in the afternoon, you will have a game drive in the park. In the evening, drive back to the lodge.
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park for game viewing. For the evening game drive in the park, herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

    Meals: F, B
    Accommodation: Tarangire Luxury Acacia Camps

Day 4 – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast drive to Serengeti National park for a half day game drive in the park. In the evening, you will go back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, also a world heritage site and recently proclaimed a 7th worldwide wonder, the Serengeti is famed for its annual migration, where about six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.

    Meals: B, L D
    Accommodation: Serengeti standard Acacia Camps

Day 5 – Serengeti National Park (migration viewing) Central Seronera
Have breakfast at the lodge then hop on a full day game drive in the Serengeti National park. Try to follow and view the great migration, and late afternoon drive back to the lodge/tented camp.

Serengeti National Park covering 10,000 square miles is Tanzania’s largest and most famous national park. As the southern part of a vast expanse of plains land shared with Kenya (where it is known as the Masai Mara), the Serengeti supports one of the largest concentration of wildlife in the world. It is home to dozens of species including antelope, hyena, leopard, giraffe, lion, buffalo and cheetah; but, at certain times of year, the main attraction is the vast numbers of herd animals – primarily zebra and wildebeest – on the move across the plain in a massive migration in search of fresh grass and water. The sight of so many animals, from the air or on the ground, is spectacular. A game drive this afternoon will introduce you to this park, famed throughout the world.
    Meals: B, L D
    Accommodation: Serengeti standard Acacia Camps

Day 6 – Serengeti National Park ( migration viewing ) Central Seronera
Have breakfast at the lodge then start a full day game drive. In the late afternoon, drive to Serengeti central (Seronera).
Today you will hae to wake up early, at around 05:30 in the morning. With breakfast, depart your lodge for an early game drive in the park to get a chance to spot the early predators as they start off the day, with luck you may encounter a lion, leopard or even cheetah hunting. Return to your lodge for lunch. And rest till 15:00 P.M when you go on another game drive. Alternatively you may enjoy a full day game drive in the remarkable Serengeti with a picnic lunch served mid-day.
    Meals: B, L D
    Accommodation: Serengeti standard Acacia Camps

    Day 7 – Serengeti – Ngorongoro
After breakfast, have a morning game drive in the Serengeti heading to Ngorongoro for a half day crater tour.
The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq km in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here.

    Meals: B, L, D
    Accommodation: Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge

Day 8 – Ngorongoro Rim Walk – Departure
After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro Crater enjoying wildlife viewing along the way, drive to Ngorongoro crater and on arrival descends into the crater for a full day of game viewing. A picnic lunch will be taken on the crater floor. The crater supports up to 25,000 large mammals. Grazers dominate: zebra, wildebeest – accounting for almost half the animals – gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and wart hog. Giraffe, for example, stay away because there is insufficient food at tree level; top because they compete directly with wildebeest.

An odd feature of the crater elephants is that they are almost exclusively bulls. Breeding herds – comprising large numbers of females and young with a few attendant older males – are probably unable to find sufficient quality food in the crater. Ngorongoro has carnivores in quantity, drawn by the large herds of prey animals. It has the densest population of large predators, mainly lion – about 100 – and more than 400 spotted hyenas, living in eight clans of up to eighty individuals. Both lions and hyenas will scavenge from each other, depending on weight of numbers and of course, hunger.
    Meals: B, L, D
    Accommodation: Manyara Wildlife Lodge

Day 9 – Lake Manyara to Arusha
After breakfast, you will have a game drive in the Ngorongoro heading to Lake Manyara. With lunch box. Then have an evening game drive and then drive back to the lodge for the dinner and overnight.
A beautiful park, Lake Manyara contains a diverse range of habitats and topographical features ranging from the rift wall, ground water forest, acacia woodlands and open grasslands to the shores of Lake Manyara and the lake itself. Then drive back to JRO for your flight
