Stop At: Yaxchilan, Mexico
Yaxchilan originated as a small village about two thousand years ago; With the passage of time it became one of the most important cities in the Usumacinta basin.
A splendid setting of evergreen high forests shelters this magnificent archeological site famous for its patent sculptural art in steles and lintels. To build it, the Maya took advantage of the characteristics of the terrain of a peninsula surrounded by a meander of the river.
The development of Yaxchilán occurred between 350 and 810 A.D. Although the political expansion of the site over the region occurred during the Jaguar Shield I government, who ascended the throne in 681 A.D., it was during the Jaguar IV Bird regime when Yaxchilán reached his physiognomy and consolidated his hegemony, as early as the eighth century.
The surface of the city is very extensive but its visit is currently restricted to part of the Great Plaza, the great Acropolis, the small acropolis and the southern acropolis. The Grand Plaza is accessed through building 19, also known as The Labyrinth, because of the complex layout of its rooms. In the grounds of the square the ball game and small sets of buildings are located that, in some cases, seem to have had the function of palaces. In several of the constructions there are still the lintels that tell the dynastic history of the city; buildings 12 and 22 stand out. The great stela 1 stands on the square showing the Jaguar Bird IV.3 ...

Stop At: Bonampak, Chiapas, Mexico
Archaeological Zone located in the heart of the Lacandon Jungle, whose peak occurred during the government of Jaguar-Knotted Eye that ascended to the throne of Bonampak in 743 AD. C. The portrait of his last ruler Chaan Muan II, whose mandate began in 776 AD. C., was embodied in the steles, lintels and wall paintings that are still preserved.
Of the set, only the Grand Plaza and the Acropolis are explored. In the first one, the magnificent stela 1 rises, which shows Chaan Muan II dressed in great luxury to celebrate his fifth year of government. On the acropolis, which follows the uneven terrain, the paintings building was built. It has three chambers, the first one shows the presentation ceremony, by the ruling family of the heir to the throne and the provisioning of the lord by several servers. In the same room is the scene of the procession of the musicians.
The camera shows the scene of the battle and the trial of the prisoners. It highlights the presence of Chaan Muan II with a large jaguar skin headdress. The battle occurred on August 2, 792 AD. C. There is still no consensus on whether it is the crushing of a peasant rebellion or the victory over a neighboring group. In chamber three it represents the sumptuous ceremony to celebrate military victory. In it there are representations of dancers, nobles and musicians, all in front of the presence of Chaan Muan II who performs a self-sacrifice to offer his blood to the gods.
The murals were never finished and after painting them, the site was abandoned for reasons still unknown ....
