    Jana Bahal is a temple of Avalokiteshwara on the way to Kathmandu Durbar Sqaure from Asan Tole. It is popular for Jana Baha Dyo (called Seto Machhindranath, Avalokiteshwara, Karunamaya). It is one of the oldest Vajrayana Buddhist Monasteries knows as Kanaka Chaitya Mahavihar. The name Kanak Chaitya Mahavihar is from a chaitya of Kanakmuni Buddha in front of the temple, erected in the courtyard.

The Stupa is popular for steps and the hordes of monkeys that are not aggressive when ignored. The stupa is among the UNESCO heritage sites of Nepal.
