  • DAY 1 FROM ATHENS TO THE PELOPONESE - EPIDAURO, MICENAS AND OLYMPIA

We will leave the Atika region early in the morning to make our first stop, the Corinto Canal.

Continuing our picturesque journey through time, where towns of yesterday and today are intermingled on the way, we will go back three thousand years to visit the Acropolis of Mycenae. Mycenae was the center of the Mycenaean or Achaean civilization and according to mythology, the city was built by Perseus aided by Cyclopes (one-eyed giants). In the enclosure you can see its cyclopean walls, the door of the Lions, various tombs of ancient kings, the Palace, the Cistern and its 99 steps underground, the Tomb of Egisto, the tomb of Clytemnestre among others, that our guide of Spanish speaking will relate to us with detail and passion.

Next to the acropolis of Mycenae is one of the greatest beauties of this civilization, the Tomb, attributed for a long time, to the very same King Agamemnon. At midday there will be a break to eat.

Later we will go to Epidaurus where we will enter the culture of the 4th century BC. Epidaurus was one of the most important pilgrimage centers of antiquity, because here was the most famous shrine of the medical god Asclepius. On the mountainside of Knortion is the Theater of Epidaurus, the best theater preserved to this day. Its construction was not done independently of Asclepion, this was part of the therapeutic process because through the theatrical performances, the distraction of the patients was achieved, which was part of the healing process of their souls.

Finished the journey to Olympia. Arrival dinner and accommodation.

DAY 2 OF OLYMPIA, CRADLE OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES TO ATHENS.

In the morning after breakfast we will know the facilities of the old Olympic stadium, where the first games were held around 776 a.c. The importance of these games is evident given the massive participation of Greek cities, which maintained a truce while its celebration lasted and the fact that the Olympiad, that is, the period of four years between the celebration of two games, was recognized as the only accepted chronological system for all of Greece. Olympia was also the most important sanctuary of the ancient Greeks, place of worship to Zeus, the first among the gods, and where was the gigantic sculpture made in gold and ivory by the same Phidias which was one of the 7 wonders of the world old. After the visit to the Olympia Museum, free time and return to Athens where we will arrive approximately over 1800 hours depending on the traffic conditions.
