Why Not Bus - Perth to Exmouth One Way, 9 Day West Coast Tour

Join us on an amazing adventure across Australia’s most impressive landscapes. Explore the Pinnacles, Kalbarri, Shark Bay, Monkey Mia, Coral Bay, Exmouth, Cape Range and more!

Owned and operated by two backpackers in their 20’s, you know your in for that personal experience only a small business can provide. With an emphasis on creating that Why Not Bus family vibe that people can’t get enough of. We all cook together in our fully equipped kitchen, camp together and party under the stars.

With nearly twice the duration of similar tours you don't need to stress about early starts and spending all of your time on a bus. We take a chilled out approach to travelling and aim to spend as much time as possible enjoying the amazing beaches and scenery this vast coastline has to offer. We take 9 days to reach exmouth. With a kitchen, fridge, snorkelling gear, games, tents, sleeping bags and mattresses on board all you need to bring is yourself, a sense of adventure and the desire to see the real Australia.

    There is a $30 mandatory accomodation upgrade in school holidays payable in cash on departure: Tours Apr 11th, 4th July, 26th Sept,   

    Food Fund Cash

    Please Bring $70 in cash for the Food Fund. If you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free then please let the driver know on the first day and we will ensure there are other options available. We will also stop for alcohol on day one :) there will be opportunities to re-stock most days of the trip

    Cold Weather May-Sept

    The first nights of the trip be less than 5 degrees Winter. Please bring: Warm Socks, Beanie, Thermals or warm underlayers for sleeping.

     

    Luggage Limits

    All Passengers may bring a daypack or small backpack on the bus as well as the following trailer luggage.

     

    Return Trips - Trailer Luggage 

    Please only bring what you need for the trip if returning to Perth. Travelling light is strongly recommended. 15Kg (Max) bag limits apply for Perth to Exmouth Return Passengers only. Unfortunately there is limited Space in the trailer and weight limits apply for our insurance.

     

    One Way Trips - Trailer Luggage 

    passengers have a Bag limit of 25kgs  -No Large suitcases (postage of suitcases to Broome can be organised at extra cost of $85)

     

    Phone Service

    Telstra and Boost mobile are the only providers that have coverage in all towns and service stations on the West Coast. Regular service can also occur on the open road. Other providers may have little to no service after the second day of the trip. unreliable WIFI is available two or three times throughout the trip at cafes and hostels.

     

    Note* In the Unfortunate event of bad weather you may be required to pay the upgrade cost to stay in a hostel.

     

    Whale Shark/Hump Back Swim Tour Info

    Whale Shark/Hump Back Tours can book out during busy periods. If you would like to swim with whales please book your trip asap.

     

    *Please book the Deluxe Whale Shark Tour day 9 of the trip and pickup location as Yardie Homestead.

     

    All interaction with the whale sharks is done on snorkel and the whale sharks we interact with are usually very close to the surface.  Our talented videographer will be there to capture all of your precious moments throughout the day! We give you the photos and video for free!  You just need to bring your own blank USB to collect these the following day from 7am. (you can buy USBs for $20 at the dive shop) If you depart before 7am we can post them to you for $5 within Australia or $10 internationally.

     

    The tour includes 2 snorkels on the reef and swim with whale shark. Be advised there may be alterations to this schedule dictated by the wildlife. All snorkeling equipment is included as well as food throughout the day (please advise of any dietary requirements)

    Through this system you can make a deposit to secure your spot with the balance payable 14 days prior to your tour. As a special bonus, when booking please also let us know via email or calling our store on 9949 1201 to get a $30 discount off the tour because you are with the Why Not Bus. Bookings made within 14 days need to be paid in full at the time of booking so just give us a call or email letting us know you are with the Why Not Bus tour and we can refund the $30 directly to your card.

     

  • Day 1 : Perth and Pinnacles
    Set off to the local shops and stock up on food for our delicious home cooked meals. We then head north with our first stop along the way for a quick lunch. Enjoy the impressive views along Indian Ocean drive and then explore the pinnacles desert. A short drive brings us to our picturesque beach side camp site where we kick back for the night. Watch the sunset with your new mates and enjoy a beer!

    Day 2 : Geraldton and the pink Lake
    Sleep off your hangover or have an early morning swim we hit the road around 9.30am. Before lunch we take an optional boat tour of Jurien bay Marine park (seasonal) or checkout Geraldton foreshore. Then we head to the spectacular Pink Lake for some rad photo ops! The campsite tonight is at the scenic lucky bay, walk the sand dunes or swim as the sun goes down. There is plenty of space at the campsite so time to turn the music up and let your hair down for the night.

    Day 3 : Kalbarri National Park
    Hit the road and see the Scenic kalbarri cliffs before a quick swim and cold shower at the river mouth. Then explore the amazing Kalbarri National Park with a few hours of hiking to Nature’s Window and the Z Bend. In the late afternoon we hit the road to our overnight stop by the river.

    Day 4 : Shark Bay
    This Morning we drive into the World Heritage site of Shark Bay. Check out Shell Beach, relax and swim in the crystal clear water. After lunch we drive into the town of Denham. It’s now time for a bit of luxury as we setup camp at the Monkey Mia Dolphin resort. After dinner and an amazing sunset you can head down to the jetty and spot wildlife with your torch or kick back on the grass around the campsite.

    Day 5 : Monkey Mia, Dolphins & Carnarvon
    Wake up and walk 50m down to the water’s edge. It’s time to meet the famous Monkey Mia Dolphins, if you are lucky you will get to feed flipper his scaly breakfast! There is now a few free hours to explore swim or rent a kayak. We hit the road around lunchtime and travel to carnarvon to resupply. The campsite is a short drive north of here where we will settle in for the night.

    Day 6 : Coral Bay Day 1
    We roll into coral bay mid morning and set up camp. There are now essentially two free days to explore, Snorkel the amazing reef, (Optional Fishing charter, diving, whale shark tours) or just sit with your new friends on the beach and enjoy this special place. Usually things will kickoff pretty early and by late afternoon everyone is ready to blow off some steam and party up! Truth or Dare anyone? Our campsite is 5 min walk from the beach and everything else in town. You will fall in love with this place the moment you arrive!

    Day 7 : Coral Bay Day 2
    Extra day in coral bay! Today you can really see the reef at its finest, only meters from the beach are huge coral formations and large fish. If you are lucky you might swim alongside a turtle or friendly reef shark! (Optional Fishing charter, diving, Manta Ray Tours, whale shark tours)

    Day 8 : Exmouth Surfing and Water Sports
    Enjoy a morning swim or sleeping at coral bay then drive to exmouth. In the afternoon we have the option to rent a surfboard or do a lesson ($25, $60)

    Day 9 : Cape Range National park, Whale Sharks, Ningaloo Reef
    Our lucky Whale shark/Humpback swimmers will be picked up from the campsite early morning. The rest of the group will travel to the Cape Range National Park and explore the many sites. The lighthouse at sunset really sets the scene for our last night together and if we are lucky we will see the Humpback Whales breaching on the Horizon! The last night at Pot Shot YHA is a nice time to spend with your new mates, make plans to meet in future travels or wonder how you can find a way to come back!

    Day 10 : Finish tour in Exmouth
    Wake up and say goodbye to your trip mates as they drive back to Perth leaving you to continue the adventure!

  • - Pickup; 9.30am at the front of billabong backpackers resort, 381 Beaufort St, Highgate WA 6003, Perth 

    - Trip end (one way); late morning on day 10 (Sunday) we will drop you off in Exmouth town.

    - Trip end (return); late afternoon/ early evening on day 11 (Monday) at billabong backpackers resort, Perth.
