Book the nanny - these are our top picks for families on Fiji time.

Family-friendly resorts where you can kick back, relax and enjoy some adult time (it’s your holiday too) while the kids do their own thing.

16 hectares of palm trees, lagoon pools and the best thing of all - 5 adult only zones to escape to. Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort also brings it’s famous "Talai" (butler) service to every bure. The kids can run amok at Little Riggers and Beach Riggers or book in Outriggers trademark ‘Meimei’ nanny service for the littlies.

Fiji's largest resort, set on a private island complete with a sandy beach and blue lagoon, is the ever-popular Shangri La Fijian Resort & Spa. Little Chief's Club, and a stay-and-eat-free, for two kids under 12, make the Shangri La amazing value for families. With loads of activities like banana boat rides, golf, scuba diving, crab races and snorkelling in the fish-filled lagoon. Kids and parents love the “Shangi”.

Whether it’s a beachfront, lagoon, pool room or a villa the 5-star Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is set up for families. Planet Trekkers kids' club runs three sessions a day and the kids can eat free with parents at all of the resort's five restaurants and bars. Four swimming pools, an 18-hole championship golf course, and horse riding along Natadola Beach, the Coral Coast's best stretch of sand. Make this a family favourite.

The five-star Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa on Denarau Island is set in lush tropical gardens and has the largest lagoon pool in the Pacific. All family rooms have child-friendly design or book a bunk room that comes equipped with Sony PlayStations, close to the kid’s pool and water slide. Turtle Kids' Club offers three sessions a day, so you can enjoy cocktails at the Waitui Beach Club or relax at the So Spa while the kids are taken care of. Easy access to Big Bula Waterpark and Denarau Golf and Racquet Club means more to do. And make sure you pull up a bean bag and some popcorn for outdoor movies screenings every Monday night.

Laidback Castaway Island Fiji Resort is a long time family favourite - kids stay and play free, kids 0-2 years eat free while kids 3-12 years receive discounted meals. The complimentary all-day kids club runs until 10 pm and is jam-packed with activities like two-legged races, ice cream eating comps, snorkelling lessons in the pool, beach volleyball or a sandcastle-making. You can kick back and relax at the adults-only pool and swim-up bar while the littlies enjoy a kids-only supervised dinner every night.

Set on a former coconut plantation on the northern island of Vanua Levu, Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort  offers a dawn-to-dusk nanny service included as part of your room - but its the Bula Club for Kids with two pools, water slides, a treehouse, a flying fox, a sandpit and a tennis court that draws families. While the kids are occupied - you can indulge in a couples spa treatment, kayak Savusavu Bay or stretch out on a daybed by the pool. And of course - the diving and snorkelling on offer is world class.
