There’s much to be said about a staycation, so is it time to get to know and fall back in love with your city. We’ve put together the perfect day in each city, so is it time to get out there and discover.

Adelaide

It may be known as the City of Churches but there’s lots more to offer in this beachside city. Start with breakfast in the city. The Flinders Street Project is an avant-garde establishment with an eclectic and delicious menu. After fueling yourself for the day, mosey on down to Glenelg Beach for a walk and a dip. Then head over to the Adelaide Oval, it’s time to settle in and watch the cricket at the beautiful stadium. When you’re done in the sun, head to Nineteen Ten for some jazz tunes into the late night.

Brisbane

It’s all about the river when it comes to Brisbane. Start your day on Eagle St. Pier. A lengthy part of pier from the Storey Bridge down to QUT. It’s dotted along with beautiful eateries. After a big brekky, it’s time to walk to Southbank and lose yourself in the beautiful GOMA. The modern art gallery has floor to ceiling views down the river. Finish your day with some dinner in West End followed by dancing at Rumpus Room.

Darwin

It’s always hot in Darwin, and it’s time to explore this top-end city. Treat yourself to a beautiful coffee at Laneway Coffee. And then, pack up the car. You’re going for a day at Litchfield. With beautiful weather all year round, always perfect for swimming, it’s time to use that. Litchfield is dotted with beautiful swimming spots and waterfalls. Bring the shade cloth, the esky, and plenty of snacks.

Hobart

Waking up in Hobart on a Saturday and there’s one thing on your mind. Salamanca Markets. This is where you should stock up for the day and the week. Head on down, and don’t even buy brekky. It’s time to do a little taste test. Try one of everything before jumping on the MONA roamer. Spend the day exploring all of the galleries before finishing at the gallery restaurant. The produce in Hobart is some of the finest in the world. Isn’t it time you treated yourself?

Melbourne

Melbourne is the city of food. So it’s time to get a big breakfast into you. But maybe something different than the normal smashed avo? Head up Sydney Road and get some traditional Lebanese breakfast at A1 Bakery, an icon of the north. After fuelling up, it’s time to go to CCP, the Centre of Contemporary Images. Check out the beautiful photo exhibition. After some culture, it’s time for some sport. All year around, the MCG hosts sports. Whether it’s footy or cricket, settle in for the afternoon. Afterwards, indulge in a bowl of pasta and local DJs at Hope Street. And then, if you have the energy… it’s time for a punk gig at the sticky-floored Tote in Collingwood.

Perth

Perth is known for its beautiful beaches. And now is the time to get onto them and relax. Start with a beautiful breakfast in Fremantle because you’re going to need to be close to the ferry. The ferry to Rottnest Island that is. Why should tourists have all the quokka selfie fun? Jump on the ferry, rent a bike, and ride around the island for the day. Jump into the beautiful Indian Ocean at the end before catching the ferry back to the mainland. Hungry after a day of quokka fun? Head to Little Creatures Brewery and live like the tourists do. You might actually enjoy it.

Sydney

There’s almost too much to do in Sydney, but maybe it’s time to do the tourist route. It might be known around the world, but for good reason — start your day at Grounds of Alexandria for a luxury breakfast. After this, it’s time to discover or rediscover a favourite beach. Bring beautiful cheese, takeaway coffees and maybe a couple of sneaky cocktails. It’s time for some retail therapy! Tuchuzy Boutique in Bondi is for all the stylish ladies, full of local designers. Finish your day off at Ikaria for a delicious meal and some wine on the side.
