Children’s Bay Park is a 200-hectare private park nestled in the middle of Akaroa Harbour. Located in between Takamatua Bay on the north and Children’s Bay on the south the park enjoys sweeping views of the Akaroa Harbour and a beautiful and private perspective back towards the historic village of Akaroa.
Over the last 10 years Children’s Bay Park has planted over 50,000 native plants. Walking tracks have been carefully placed through existing regenerating native and recently planted native to create a varied and interesting experience that includes expansive views of the surrounding bays.
All proceeds* to Children’s Bay Park go straight back into track maintenance, planting and pest control as well as the re fencing of regenerating areas for wetlands and habitat expansion for native birds.
Itinerary Details
- Return helicopter flight. Depart / return Christchurch airport
- Fly over the volcanic rim of banks peninsular and touch down in front of The Red Shed within Children’s Bay Park
- Refreshments on arrival at the Red Shed
- A short guided walk to plant a Totora tree and learn about the planting within the Park and the history of Akaroa
- Return to the Red Shed to relax by the fire, reconnect and enjoy a sensational 6-course degustation lunch with refreshments.
